Yes, this Yaadie is in the preparation stages of opening her very own restaurant that will continue to serve great food with good vibes in the heart of Christiansted Town on King Street.
Could you imagine? In just four and a half year since I've been on St. Croix, I've elevated from being a Sous Chef at The Buccaneer to lead line cook at 40 Strand. Then, I took a leap of faith into entrepreneurship doing lunch deliveries and private chef caterings during the pandemic. Now, at this very point in time, I am proud to bring to reality the opening my very own, and first ever, commercial kitchen and fine dining space slated for opening in October 2023. This oasis will feature local ingredients with a Jamaican flair, of course.
It hasn't been easy to say the least. Like many during the pandemic, I created unique opportunities for myself that proved to be very successful in the long run! Being away from family and friends back home in Jamaica was difficult to endure as I worried about their welfare throughout the shutdown. I'm overjoyed that I stuck it out on St. Croix because I am one step closer to realizing my overall goals for Yaadie in St. Croix.
My first pop up was at Tapas on Strand Street where I showcased Spanish tapas inspired by my 2019 solo trip to Barcelona. Countless pop ups and private dinners later, the moment when Jubilee opens its doors is swiftly arriving in October 2023 for my annual Chef's Table Dinner. Have you thought of what you're going to wear yet? Do you know who your +1 will be? Get ready from now because the unveiling of the space will be grand, so think BIG and classy in your preparations too.
I extend heartwarming appreciation to all the customers that continue to support Yaadie in St. Croix from the beginning of my entrepreneurial venture and indeed, the journey ahead! You definitely have a home at Jubilee, and I look forward to creating even more memorable experiences when you dine with us in town.
